Plans are already in motion for the annual Mexican Open event, which will be held this year on September 12th. This will be the 13th year for the golf tournament and fiesta, which has been benefiting Yolo Hospice since its third year. Proceeds also support the Mexican Open Scholarship Fund.
The Mexican Open was born as the inspiration of Tony Cueva, who wanted to do something meaningful with his retirement years. Collaborating with friends and family, they decided to blend their Mexican and American cultures by holding a golf tournament to celebrate Mexican Independence Day, with proceeds giving back to a good cause.
From that initial idea, the volunteer-run effort has only grown, becoming an official 501(c)3 in 2007. Tony Cueva himself passed on in 2014, but his family continues to manage the Mexican Open and keep his legacy living on.
You can participate in the golf tournament in a four-person team for $125 per golfer, or attend the fiesta for $30 in advance/$40 at the door. For more information or questions, contact Anthony Cueva at (707) 688-9555 or email mexicanopen@yahoo.com.
Yolo Hospice is so grateful to the Mexican Open Committee for their wonderful support–and we look forward to the party!
