We’re opening our doors for a wine and cheese reception and art show on Sunday, September 20th, from 2 to 4 pm. We invite all our friends and supporters to meet our leadership team, see our offices, and learn more about hospice and Yolo Hospice’s 35 years of history in the community.
Called Essence, the event is intended as an artistic expression of who Yolo Hospice is, and will feature local artists in a variety of mediums: photography, music and poetry. Visitors can expect to see a photo exhibit from VIP Studios, featuring the Yolo Hospice team, and to hear singing from the Davis Threshold Choir. The Davis Threshold Choir is one of 600 choirs in 120 cities across the nation that brings the healing energy of music to those who are on the threshold of life. Their work and stories have recently been featured on National Public Radio (NPR), Bloomberg News, and ABC News.
There will also be a poetry reading from Madalon O’Rawe Amenta, an early American voice in the hospice movement. Amenta is a founding member and former executive director of the Hospice & Palliative Nurses Association (HPNA), the organization that certifies nurses in the field of hospice and palliative care. She also served as the director of education and research at Forbes Hospice and eventually founded the Pennsylvania Hospice Network. She will read from her collection of original poetry, Kandinsky and the Stars.
Our offices are located at 1909 Galileo Court in Davis. If you are interested in attending this event, please RSVP by calling us at (530) 758-5566, or email ljreyes@yolohospice.org. We hope to see you there!
