A Presentation from a National Leader in Advance Care Planning
Join Jim Towey, founder of Aging with Dignity and the Five Wishes, on Friday, July 8th from 1 to 3 pm. Jim will share his personal stories from his time spent living in one of Mother Teresa’s missions, and tell us how her work with the dying inspired him to carry on her legacy of providing dignity for patients at the end of their lives.
His presentation will include practical tips for:
- All adults on how to plan for care before a serious illness
- Family caregivers who want to provide the best possible care to loved ones
- Healthcare providers who talk to patients and families about advance care planning
Former legal counsel and close friend to Mother Teresa, Towey created the Five Wishes advance directive to provide people with a voice in their end-of-life care decisions. Five Wishes is now the most widely used living will in the country, with 25 million in circulation. Towey served as the head of Florida’s health and social services agency and then as Director of the White House Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives.
