What It Is: A participatory art exhibit, inviting passers-by to complete the sentence, Before I Die, I want to… Everyone is invited to write on the wall with chalk to contribute a heartfelt wish, a goal or an intention. In appreciation of our diverse community, the artwork panels are presented in four of the many native languages spoken in Davis: English, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese.
How to Find It: Before I Die is on 1st Street, between E and F, on the south-facing exterior wall of Regal Davis Holiday 6 movie Theater. The wall was installed in late September, with an official unveiling on October 13th at 5:30pm.
Who is Involved: This is a collaborative project of the City of Davis and Yolo Hospice; with additional support provided by International House Davis, the UC Davis Extension’s International English and Professional Programs, and local artist Kyle Monhollen.
How to Participate: The entire community is invited to participate in the artwork by using chalk to add your personal aspirations to the communal list. Additionally, if you are fluent in English, Spanish, Arabic or Chinese and would like to be involved as a wall monitor, please contact Louise Joyce at ljoyce@yolohospice.org or (530) 758-5566 for additional information.
